Are You Really Living Those Inspirational Quotes People Post? or is it Social Entertainment?
I was chatting with 2 nurses the other day. They were telling me of the many attempted suicides in the hospital and the extreme measures that must be taken to ensure they do not succeed on their watch. Contemplating this information, I thought “Wow, there really are a lot of lost, unhappy people out there.” And then I wondered, why are not these people reaching out for help before it gets bad? My mentoring business should be packed and overflowing.
Everyday, people post the most amazing sayings on the various social media platforms. I smile as I read them because they are truth to me. I live them. I am so glad they are being posted and shared, for the world needs to be reminded of how joyful we can live and be.
But, those that actually carry these sayings in their heart, living them, are the exception, not the rule. Frustrated with this fact, I asked the Divine what I could do about it, for I use my precious time to blog and make videos, is anyone really benefitting? My answer was two-fold. First, Trust. Trust that those that need it will find it, and those positive postings are sending positive energy out into the Universe. Second, give practical, simple action steps one can do to start living these sayings.
DO NOT JUST READ CASUALLY! MAKE IT HAPPEN! ONLY YOU CAN!
1. Emulate. We must have people we can emulate. When we do not have the skill set yet to live as we would like, we must closely observe and imitate someone who does. If there is no one in your life that has risen to the Living Life Well category, then you must turn to books or shows authored by someone who has. Do what they do. Talk the way they talk. Soon, it will become your own and you can personalize it and make it your own. Emulation is how I overcame my self-loathing and turned it into huge Self-Value. I read the books, watched the shows, hung out with those that were happy, content, and inspiring others. If they could do it, I could do it.
Inside of step 1, I found all kinds of steps. Those who have “made it,” have a ton in common. They are grateful. They see the positive in all situations. They do not worry. They smile, a lot. They do not allow fear to paralyze them. They live balanced lives. They eat well and exercise. They have Mentors. This list could go on and on.
What action steps can you do out of these attitudes that I highly encourage you to do?
a. Get a journal and write gratitudes everyday.
b. Borrow or create your own mantras, to be repeated often until they become reality. “I am beautiful. I am lovable. I am hugely successful. I have peace.”
c. Cut out processed sugar. After the initial shock to your system, you will physically and emotionally feel better. Food really does impact our health and how we feel. Those that have the “it” factor we are talking about here in this blog, love themselves enough to feed their bodies healthy sustenance.
d. Practice smiling at loved ones, and then graduate to strangers. Your doing it to spread good cheer, and learn what if feels like to have a positive impact on your self and your surroundings, rather than a negative one. Spreading love in this small way is life transforming. Realizing the power we have to make someone’s day by this simple gesture, begins the power train to want to do it more. It’s Awesome!
e. Share your trials, your victories, and your thoughts with a Mentor or someone that will challenge you further and offer encouragement. I cannot live without this one, and make no mistake, those we are emulating do not live without this one either.
You get what you put in.
C’mon, let’s make this existence bliss!
